Plax Returning To NFC East?

One would have to imagine that, with a receiving corps. consisting of Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Roy Williams, the Dallas Cowboys are off the list of Plaxico Burress’ potential NFL destinations. Somewhat interestingly, they stand out in this regard in the NFC East.

Experts and prognosticators have given a good deal of thought to Plax returning to the New York Giants or heading to the Philadelphia Eagles, basically, since he was released from prison a few weeks ago. Now, one of the Washington Redskins’ biggest stars has come out in favor of a potential relationship between the ‘Skins and Burress.

Chris Cooley recently told NFL.com’s Cover Two podcast that he could imagine a humbled Burress being a good teammate and an asset to the suddenly more-youthful Redskins--at least, more than would be Terrell Owens or Chad Ochocinco (or Johnson, or whatever it is these days).

“It’s tough when you get guys like T.O. or Chad, who have been what they are in the NFL for so long,” Cooley said, per ProFootballTalk.com. “In my opinion, Plaxico Burress probably is a guy that’s humbled such as Mike Vick was, a lot, in the same situation. If you were going to take a risk on a guy that’s a good player, he’s probably the guy you’re going to take a risk on. He’ll probably step in a locker room, keep his mouth shut, work hard and try to earn his way back into the league the first season.”
