Owners Meeting For “Update” In Chicago Today

Owners and team officials gathered at a hotel just outside of Chicago on Tuesday to update themselves on the state of negotiations with players, and the collective bargaining agreement that is currently on the table.

The Tuesday meeting is expected to consist of a morning and an afternoon session. A Wednesday session is likely as well--many of the owners present on Tuesday could be seen carrying overnight bags into the meeting.

An agreement doesn’t seem to be imminent, but many of the owners believe the latest round of meetings, near the O’Hare Airport, is a crucial step in the negotiation process and a reason for optimism.

"We're just getting updated. It just makes sense that you find a way (to get a deal),” Colts owner Jim Irsay told reporters Tuesday, per the USA Today. “Both sides are working hard. There's going to be a time and a place to get a deal. I'm optimistic."
