Orakpo Wants to Stay in Washington

Brian Orakpo is set to become a free agent after 2013

University of Texas product and Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2013 season. But if he gets his wish, he will remain with Washington for the rest of his career.

I would love to be a Redskin for life,” Orakpo said, per the Washington Post. “That’s my goal. Obviously, when I talked to [owner Daniel] Mr. Snyder, he said that’s his goal. Coach Shanahan said that’s his goal. As long as both sides take care of our business, it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Orakpo missed all but two games last season after he suffered a pectoral tear in week two, but he’s healthy these days--and he won’t rule out the idea that he could sign a new deal before this offseason is over.

“The coaches know what I mean to this organization,” Orakpo said, “and that shouldn’t be a problem once it’s all said and done.”
