Nowitzki Offers Words of Encouragement For Romo

With the Tony Romo critics of the world armed with a fresh, new pocket full of ammo this morning, following a three-interception performance from Romo and a record-setting Cowboys collapse, the Dallas quarterback is getting some love from the DFW sports world’s darling for the last three months or so, Dirk Nowitzki.

Nowitzki, or @swish41, who led the Mavericks to an NBA Title back in June, offered Romo some encouragement on Twitter today, via ESPN Dallas:

Dear tony romo. Don't worry abt all the critics. I heard that same garbage for a long time. Keep working hard/keep improving

Like Romo, Nowitzki is the face of a franchise in Dallas; unlike Romo, Nowitzki isn’t all that polarizing of a figure--nor has he ever been, really, even before leading the Mavs over the Heat this summer.

This isn’t to say that Nowitzki’s ability to lead a team to the top of the NBA mountain wasn’t questioned, because it was. But it’s safe to say that Mavericks fans aren’t as uniformly diehard as are Cowboys fans. And they’re certainly a lot less frustrated.
