Murray Named Coca-Cola Sports Personality of the Year

DeMarco Murray rushed for a franchise-record 1,845 yards in 2014

The postseason accolades just keep coming for Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray.

Murray has been named the Coca-Cola Sports Personality of the Year by the Rochester (NY) Press-Radio Club. On Saturday, he was named the Associated Press’ Offensive Player of the Year on Saturday at the NFL Awards Show.

The NFL’s leading rusher in 2014, Murray set a new Cowboys franchise record with 1,845 yards. But the award has just as much to do with Murray’s off-field work through his foundation, which provides educational support to underserved youth in the DFW area.

Past winners of the award include Drew Brees, Cal Ripken Jr. and both of the Manning brothers.

Murray will be honored at the 66th annual Rochester Press-Radio Club Champions Children’s Charities Dinner on May 4 at the Joseph A. Floreano Riverside Convention Center.
