Mincey Held Out with Concussion, Expects to Return This Week

Jeremy Mincey believes he suffered a concussion during pregame warmups in Philadelphia

Dallas Cowboys defensive end and reigning sack leader Jeremy Mincey was held out of Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons with the lingering effects of a concussion he believes he suffered during warmups before last week’s  matchup with the Eagles in Philadelphia.

I think it was during the warmups the Philly game. I just toughed it out. I figured out a way to tough it out,” Mincey told the team’s official website. “I wish I had been a lot smarter. Trying to just get through it, not knowing what was going on. I’m here now, so hopefully get past the protocol and get this thing rolling.”

The Cowboys certainly could’ve used Mincey against the Falcons. Matt Ryan operated in comfort most of the day against a front four that was missing not only Mincey, but also Randy Gregory, Greg Hardy and Terrell McClain.

The good news is Mincey believes he’ll be back this week.

“I’ve just got to get through the concussion protocol, and I’ll be fine--starting tomorrow,” Mincey said Sunday. “Tomorrow, the day after--they just check you to make sure you’re alright.”
