Mike Jenkins Fined For Late Hit In Thanksgiving Day Loss

Jenkins' late shove of the Redskins' Pierre Garcon was called unnecessary roughness on the field

Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins has been slapped with a fine by the NFL for shoving Redskins’ receiver Pierre Garcon to the turf at Cowboys Stadium as Garcon ran through the end zone after a touchdown reception in the team’s 38-21 loss to Washington a week ago.

According to the Dallas Morning News, head coach Jason Garrett confirmed that Jenkins had been fined for the move, which was flagged as unnecessary roughness during the game, on Thursday.

The NFL’s decision will leave Jenkins $7,875 lighter in the bank account.

It’s been a fairly eventful week for Jenkins. With Orlando Scandrick likely done for the year after undergoing surgery to repair a broken hand this week, he’s preparing to see a lot more work, particularly in the slot, where Scandrick normally roams. Jenkins will become a free agent at the end of the 2012 season.
