A Melee In The Meadowlands

It appeared as time wound down on the half that, for Cowboys' left tackle Flozell Adams, the frustration of 14 unanswered points was just more than he could bear.

On the last play of the second quarter, Adams hit the Giants' Justin Tuck from behind before going after Mathias Kiwanuka.  He grabbed Kiwanuka's facemask and wrestled him to the Giants' sideline before both teams intervened.

Of course, Tuck, Adams' initial target, suffered a shoulder injury in the first meeting between the teams in September, after Adams tripped him.

In a strange footnote, a penalty flag was thrown on the play, but the Giants' declined it, this according to Fox's play-by-play announcer, Joe Buck. Had the penalty been accepted, it would have been assessed on the opening kick of the second half.

One thing seems certain: Adams will be making another hefty donation to the league offices after the incident is further sorted out.
