McClain, Church Banged Up But OK

Rolando McClain and Barry Church came away from Thursday's loss feeling a bit sore

Two key members of the Dallas Cowboys defense came away from Thursday’s blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles a little banged up, but neither injury is considered all that serious and both expect to play next week against the Bears in Chicago.

Church suffered an injury to the calf in the fourth quarter while trying to bring down Eagles reserve running back Chris Polk.

“When I tackled him, somebody stepped all over my calf with them cleats man, it hurts,” Church said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I took a couple of plays off and came back in, but I’ll be straight.”

As for McClain, his injury isn’t a new one. It’s the same sore knee that has bothered him through much of the year, but that he’s generally been able to play through. Including on Thursday, when he took some plays off at points but finished the game with seven tackles.

“He was sensitive with it,” owner and general manager Jerry Jones said of McClain, “but he was able to finish. And that’s a good thing.”
