McBriar's Goal: Keep The Ball From Peterson's Hands

Cardinals rookie Patrick Peterson has four returns for touchdowns this year

Dallas Cowboys punter Mat McBriar’s goal on Sunday is a simple but difficult one: He intends to keep the ball out of the hands of rookie Patrick Peterson’s hands, most likely by booting the ball out of bounds and not giving him a chance to break off a long return, which he’s been doing with some regularity this year.

"I'd love to kick the ball out of bounds," said McBriar, per the Dallas Morning News. "I can't tell you it's always definitely going to be there."

Peterson, an LSU product, has returned four punts for touchdowns this season, leading many to mention him in the same breath as Chicago’s Devin Hester. Considering how Dallas has struggled with special teams over the past two weeks, it’s a somewhat alarming match-up, but McBriar is confident going in.

"I'd like to think I'll kick well, and we can shut this guy down," McBriar said.
