Mat McBriar Working Out For Cowboys, Too

The free agent punter was in Philadelphia to work out for the Eagles on Monday

On Monday, free agent punter Mat McBriar was one of a handful of punters to work out for the Eagles in Philadelphia, but it appears that a return to Dallas isn’t yet out of the question for the two-time Pro Bowler.

According to a source in contact with the Dallas Morning News, McBriar will head down to Texas to work out for the Cowboys, the team with which he’s spent all of his nine seasons in the NFL, on Tuesday.

Of course, McBriar ended the 2011 season on injured reserve after struggling through most of the year with a case of drop-foot in his plant leg, the result (it turns out) of a cyst just below his left knee. McBriar underwent surgery to have the cyst removed back in February ad has spent the offseason working out in San Diego.

Currently, Dallas has two punters on the roster: South Florida product Delbert Alvarado and Chris Jones, who replaced McBriar as a rookie in 2011, when the Australian was finally place on IR.
