Martin Not Up for Rookie of the Year Honors

Let's be frank, Dallas Cowboys rookie guard Zack Martin was never going to win the NFL Rookie of the Year award this season, especially not with that guy named Odell Beckham Jr. in the mix, or any number of rookie wide receivers who took the league by storm this year outside of Beckham.

But you had to figure Martin might be in the mix, at least, right? He's been tremendous in helping give the Cowboys the best offensive line in football and the best running back in football. He was named an All-Pro last week, which is probably the biggest individual honor in football other than the league MVP award.

But he's not even up for Rookie of the Year honors, which will almost certainly go to Beckham, and rightfully so.

It's hard to imagine an offensive lineman ever winning the award, unless it was an offensive tackle that stood out by shutting down the league's top pass-rushers throughout the year. Guards are noticed a lot less than tackles, anyway.

But Martin deserves credit and praise, and like we said, he'll probably take that All-Pro honor and be happy with that.
