Marinelli Would Move Anthony Barr to DE

UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr was in town for a pre-draft visit on Tuesday

Former UCLA linebacker and potential draft target Anthony Barr says Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli wants to convert him to defensive end if he winds up with the team in next month’s draft, and he says that’s fine by him.

Barr was in town for a pre-draft visit on Tuesday, where he met with Jerry Jones, Marinelli and the rest of the staff.

I spoke with him at length today,” Barr said of Marinelli, per the team’s official website. “He showed me a lot of tape of (Julius) Peppers and Simeon Rice and (Warren) Sapp, so I think he wants me playing that defensive right end position to go after the quarterback, and that’s something I’m all for.”

This wouldn’t be Barr’s first position change. He spent his first two years in college as a running back before converting to linebacker where, in his final year with the Bruins, he was named a consensus All-American.
