Marcus Spears Joins the Ravens

Spears was cut by Dallas last Wednesday

It didn’t take former Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears long to find a new home.

Spears was cut by Dallas on Wednesday in a cost-cutting move. On Friday afternoon, he announced that he would be joining the reigning Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens feature a three-man front quite a bit, meaning that Spears--who has played exclusively in 3-4 systems since coming into the league--should fit right in.

Spears was the second of the Cowboys’ two first round picks back in 2005 (he went 20th overall), the first being DeMarcus Ware, and started 89 games over his eight seasons with the team. In this span, Spears was credited with 226 tackles, 10 sacks and three forced fumbles.
