Let the “Ooohs” and “Aaaahs” Begin

It's a safe bet that Cowboys Stadium will serve as the magnum opus of Jerry Jones.

Jones speaks of the stadium with the thoughtful reverence of a proud father, which is fairly understandable. I mean, have you seen the stadium?

It is a worthy heir to the "Eighth Wonder of the World," the Astrodome, and the ultra public parade which passed through that venue in the sixties now seems to be headed through Jerry World.

This will range from the huge--Super Bowl XLV--to the, well, less than huge--high school football; it was recently announced that Kirk Herbstreit (of ESPN fame) will bring his high school football series to Cowboys Stadium, with five local teams participating.

The games, which will include local teams such as Irving Macarthur, Mansfield Summit and Euless Trinity, are set to be played on Labor Day.

The games, like the concerts that have and will come to the stadium, will only serve to advance the venue beyond the realm of professional football. Jones seems hopeful that his masterpiece will not be limited in any such manner.

As much was clear as he spoke at the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Business Leaders luncheon weeks ago. "If the Cowboys have the ability to have that kind of attention, if we have that kind of visibility and we’re going to do that kind of arm-waving about what we are and what we can be about as a stadium," Jones said,  "there better be some meat on the bones when they get here."

Jones predictably wouldn't have it any other way.

"Again," he continued, "that’s why we’ve made the investment and that’s why we’ve made the commitment we’ve made to the stadium.”
