LBs Sims, Carter Fined For Penalties Against Saints

Ernie Sims and Bruce Carter became the fourth and fifth Cowboys to be fined in 2013 last week

The NFLโ€™s offices reached out to the Dallas Cowboys during their bye week last week, to let linebackers Bruce Carter and Ernie Sims know theyโ€™ve got fines coming their way for penalties committed in the loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Carter was nailed for $15,570 for his horse collar tackle of Saints running back Darren Sproles. Sims was hit for $7,875 for his face mask of Mark Ingram. Both penalties came on that demoralizing, eight-play drive, on which the Saints didnโ€™t throw a single pass. The drive was capped by a four-yard run by Ingram.

The Cowboys have now had five players fined this season. Before Carter and Sims, Dez Bryant was fined for making a throat-slash gesture while celebrating a touchdown against the Rams, Barry Church was fined for throwing the ball into the crowd after a touchdown against the Giants and LB Cameron Lawrence was fined for a blindside block in the win over the Redskins.
