LB Coach Herring To Interview With Houston

After initially denying the Houston Texans’ request to interview linebackers coach Reggie Herring, the Dallas Cowboys have okayed an interview between the two parties on Tuesday of this week.

After being hired as the defensive coordinator of the Texans’ two weeks ago, former Cowboys’ head coach Wade Phillips almost immediately requested an interview with Dallas’ linebackers coach. Phillips brought Herring to Dallas in 2008.

As Todd Archer pointed out today on ESPNDallas.com, that the Cowboys would suddenly grant the Texans’ an interview with Herring could be a sign that Rob Ryan, who Dallas brought on as defensive coordinator on Sunday, wants to hire his own staff.

Herring served as the Arkansas Razorbacks’ defensive coordinator for three seasons before joining Dallas as linebackers coach, where he has remained ever since.
