Report: Kitna Will Miss At Least Two More Weeks

Backup QB Jon Kitna is dealing with a back injury that has kept him inactive for the team's past two games

Dallas Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett said this week that the team expects backup quarterback Jon Kitna to remain inactive with a nagging back injury for at least another two weeks.

Kitna missed practice on Tuesday and, according to Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News, the team will continue to rest the veteran as he rehabs the injury.

"Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks he'll be able to test it and be back sooner rather than later," Garrett said, per the Morning News.

There was some talk last week of Dallas looking outside the organization for quarterback help--and in fact, the team reportedly put in a waiver claim for Kyle Orton, who instead went to Kansas City. But for now, Stephen McGee is the second option at the position and the only other healthy QB on the active roster, aside from Tony Romo.

"We want to have three healthy quarterbacks," Garrett said. "But sometimes you cannot control health, and you have to make the best decision for your team right now and then going forward."
