Kiper Calls Zack Martin NFL's Best Rookie

Dallas selected right guard Zack Martin with the 16th overall pick back in May

Halfway through the season it looks like the Dallas Cowboys made the right decision back in May when, after much discussion and hand-wringing over the still available Johnny Manziel, they selected Notre Dame offensive tackle Zack Martin with the 16th overall pick.

The Cowboys moved Martin to right guard, where he’s flourished in his rookie season, so much so that ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper recently ranked Martin as the best rookie in the NFL.

"The story of the season for Dallas has been the effectiveness of the offensive line. And what's remarkable about that unit is if you go through every game (and that's my Monday this year), you realize that Martin has been the most consistent player,” Kiper writes, via Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. “He's been outstanding, probably a top-10 player at the position league-wide. And remember, this is a guy who could flip outside to tackle."

With the addition of Martin, the Dallas offensive line has been among the best in the league, as evidenced by the production of DeMarco Murray, currently the NFL's leading rusher.
