Josh Brent, The 318 Pound Fullback

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett credits defensive lineman Josh Brent with being “a great athlete,” and for this reason, fans might be getting used to seeing Brent playing on both sides of the ball. The University of Illinois product has seen three snaps at fullback this season.

So far, the experiment is 0-for-1 on goal line situations. Brent came in to lead block for Felix Jones on a fourth and goal against the Lions, but the stout Detroit defensive front gave nothing, stopping Jones for no gain.

Nonetheless, it seems likely that the team will continue to use Brent in a similar role on offense, as (a) the team has struggled to get a push on short yardage situations all year, and (b) the second-year back-up nose tackle has plenty of experience--he played some fullback for the Fighting Illini as well.

"It's something I did in college," Brent said, per the Dallas Morning News. "So it's something I am comfortable with. I don't feel out of place."
