Jones Doesn't Know When Ratliff Will Return

Jay Ratliff hasn't seen any game action since November of last year

Don’t ask Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones when defensive tackle Jay Ratliff will return, because he doesn’t know.

Coming off the least productive season of his career--a season that was hampered by various injuries from beginning to end--the groin issue that ended Ratliff’s season in 2012 followed him into 2013.

Ratliff re-aggravated the groin during the conditioning test and was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list just before the start of the season. Ratliff hasn’t seen any game action since last November, when he suffered the groin injury.

The former All-Pro will be eligible to come off the PUP list next week, but whether that will happen or not is another question.

“I don’t know,” Jones told 105.3-FM The Fan this week, via the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t know that he knows. I don’t know that anybody knows. He’s beginning to work through on what we all hope is a secure injury area that has hopefully healed. I don’t know that. I can’t speak to that. I don’t know that anybody does. We will painstakingly go slow here and try to work him back in.”
