Jimmy Johnson: You “Have To Put Ego Aside” With Jerry

Johnson believes Jason Garrett has done well as head coach thus far.

Thanks to Twitter, you don’t necessarily need to wait for an official interview with a guy to get his opinion on this or that subject; which is just what happened this week, when a fan asked former Cowboys’ head coach Jimmy Johnson how he thought current head coach Jason Garrett was doing, insofar as dealing with Jerry Jones is concerned.

Specifically, the tweeter asked, via the Dallas Morning News: "How well do u think Garrett is managing Jerry? I think Mr Jones intrudes."

Johnson responded: "good have to put ego aside with J."

So Johnson believes Garrett is doing “good.” He also believes that, when working with Jerry Jones, you “have to put [your] ego aside.” This is interesting, given that Garrett played under Johnson and, more indirectly, under Jones, but it’s not at all surprising. After all, it was a clash of egos that led to Johnson’s ouster from Dallas--this following two consecutive Super Bowl Championships.
