The improbable story of Jesse Holley’s NFL career will continue in 2012, but not in Dallas.
The New England Patriots announced on Monday that they’ve signed Holley to a deal, the specifics of which aren’t available at the moment.
Holley joined the Cowboys in 2009 after winning a training camp invite through Michael Irvin’s short-lived reality series, “4th and Long.” He was among final cuts in camp that year but was brought back as a member of the practice squad, where he spent a season and a half before being promoted to the active roster.
In 2011, Holley caught seven passes for 169 yards, including a 77-yard catch and run in week two that set the Cowboys’ up for the victory over the San Francisco 49ers--a play that will stand as the highlight of Holley’s career in Dallas.
After the season, the Cowboys allowed Holley to become an unrestricted free agent by not extending a tender offer to the 28-year-old.
