Jerry Thinks Tony Romo Will Be Improved in 2014

At 34, Tony Romo is coming off surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not only confident that quarterback Tony Romo’s back will hold up, but he believes Romo will actually be better in 2014 with passing game coordinator Scott Linehan in the fold.

Romo was limited throughout training camp and played a half and two series in the preseason.

“I also think you’ll see an improved player relative to the experience and the time that he’s spent with his new coordinator,” Jones told 105.3-FM The Fan, via ESPN Dallas. “This is a real successful matchup. I think these guys are going to be pretty effective with the way they work together.

“Tony basically said, ‘He’s thinking of it before I do,’ and that’s something because Tony has a lot of thoughts as he plays a ballgame. He stays out ahead of it pretty good, so we’re going to be pretty pleased with that combination.”

Granted, until Romo went down in Week 16 of last year, he was having a nice year. He finished with 3,828 yards, 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and the last pass he threw was a game-winner to DeMarco Murray against the Redskins.
