Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones seems to believe the team is close to locking up quarterback Tony Romo long-term--which is Dallas’s stated No. 1 priority this offseason.
"It's not a concern of mine," Jones said, per ESPN Dallas. "We all have to decide what date that is. Everybody involved: His agents. Him. Me. Us. The point I do want to make [about] this kind of commitment is I feel good about making it. I feel good about where he is in his career."
Romo will be 32 by the time the 2013 season begins, but he’s only been the starter since midway through the 2006 season. Jones didn’t offer a timetable for the deal to get done, but he seems confident in where the two parties stand at the moment.
"I'm not concerned that we are looking at a drawn-out thing here,” he said. “I'm not concerned that is going to in any way hamper any decision we want to make personnel-wise over the next few weeks."
