Jerry Jones Not Making Predictions, Wants To Compete

Jerry Jones wants to make it clear that he did NOT predict a Super Bowl run for the Cowboys last season and, having said that, won’t make any predictions for this one. Jones was recently asked about this team’s playoff aspirations, and before pinning the blame on the media for the widely believed idea that he did make such a prediction, he offered a succinct non-prediction for this year.

"I think you've got to walk before you run,'' Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News. "You guys (media) put it in my mouth last year that I was talking a Super Bowl. I asked Rich (Dalrymple, Cowboys public relations guy) to run me back some tape to see where I predicted a Super Bowl.

"Having said that, our goal is to put ourselves in a position to compete for one. I'm hopeful we'll have the team and the situation after 16 games that we thought we were going to have last year.

"I was surprised and disappointed at how we messed it up last year.''

So were we, Jerry. So were we.
