With a 34-23 loss to the Redskins on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys finished the 2015 season 4-12—quite a fall from a year ago, when that record was reversed and the team ran away with the NFC East down the stretch before winning a playoff game and falling just short in another.
That mark is the franchise’s third worst record since the league moved to a 16-game schedule.
But as jarring as the turnaround might have been for owner and general manager Jerry Jones, he said after Sunday’s finale that there was never any thought given to moving on from Jason Garrett as head coach.
"Let me be real clear: There's no thought of replacing Jason. At all," Jones said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. "I only say that to get ahead of anything that might be said about me addressing coaching. Jason is the ultimate decision-maker regarding the staff. And so that remains for us to sit down and really evaluate the staff."
