Jerry: Dez Won't Play Thursday

At the Dallas Cowboys’ kickoff luncheon on Wednesday, owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that rookie receiver Dez Bryant will not play in Thursday’s preseason finale against Miami at Cowboys Stadium.

"The regulars won't play," Jones said, per ESPN Dallas.

The idea that Bryant would return Thursday has been floating around for some time. Jones, as well as head coach Wade Phillips, didn’t dismiss the idea after the Cowboys’ 23-7 loss in Houston and it appeared for a short time that Bryant may be available against the Dolphins.

On Sunday night, Bryant posted a message on Twitter suggesting that he would indeed return in time for the final exhibition, or in his words, be "back in action Thursday night!!!!!". He returned to practice on Tuesday, for the first time since suffering a high ankle sprain on July 30.
