Jerry Can't Sleep, Because He's Too Excited

Dallas will open up the regular season on Sunday night against the Giants

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seems to never be short on optimism, but this year, he’s so excited for the season it’s affecting his sleep schedule. Jones admitted as much during his bi-weekly appearance on 105.3-FM The Fan on Tuesday.

Can't sleep, popped up at 4:30 this morning," Jones said, via ESPN Dallas. “It's just an exciting time to think that we've got the team on the field that we do. This is a big game, we open it up nationally at AT&T Stadium. [It's] almost more than I can handle.”

This excitement has trickled down through the team, starting with Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett--and not just because the season is about to begin.

"I think it’s an exciting week,” Garrett said on Monday. "There are a lot of decisions that we have to cut our team down and make trades and put the best 53 guys together and add eight guys to the practice roster. That was a lot of what the last few days have been. That’s an exciting thing. Sometimes those conversations are hard. Sometimes those decisions are hard.

“But often times they reveal what you think is important in life, what you think is important to your football team. So we try to do that collectively as an organization. We feel good about the group we put together and we’re excited about the opportunity this week.”
