Jeremy Mincey: Being a Cowboy “A Dream Come True”

Mincey was signed to a two-year deal with the Cowboys earlier this offseason

Cowboys defensive end Jeremy Mincey didn’t grow up in Dallas, or even in Texas, but he says he was a huge fan of the team growing up. In an interview with Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com this week, Mincey recalled mowing lawns in the fifth grade in order to get a Cowboys Starter jacket.

“I grew up a Dallas Cowboy man, I remember scraping up change to get me a Dallas Cowboys Starter jacket,” Mincey said. “Then my mom came back another Christmas after that and gave me another Starter jacket. I’ve just been a Dallas Cowboy fan from day one.”

For Mincey, who came to Dallas this offseason after eight seasons with the 49ers, Jaguars and Broncos, playing for the Cowboys is something of a dream come true. Among his favorite players to watch growing up, Mincey named such greats as Larry Allen, Jay Novacek and Deion Sanders. He added that watching Emmitt Smith might’ve helped his decision to attend the University of Florida for college.

“Oh yeah, it’s definitely a dream come true, all my family members grew up as Dallas Cowboys [fans] and for me to be out here representing the Dallas Cowboys, it speaks on behalf of my family and a lot of my friends,” Mincey said. “A lot of people are just so happy that I’m a part of the Dallas Cowboys organization.”
