Jenkins Ready For Sunday, But Looking Forward To The Bye Week

Like most of the many injured Cowboys, cornerback Mike Jenkins is looking forward to the team’s week five bye week in order to get healthy--but for now, he says he’s ready to go against the Detroit Lions, the team’s week four opponent.

I’m alright, man,” Jenkins said recently, per ESPN Dallas. “I’ve got a football body. I’m ready.”

Jenkins has struggled with injuries since well before the season started. He suffered a stinger early in training camp that forced him to miss the entire preseason; then he returned for the week one matchup against the Jets, only to sustain a shoulder injury that he would re-aggravate in weeks two and three, against the 49ers and Redskins, respectively.

Given that he hasn’t been able to catch a break health-wise this season, it’s no great surprise that the bye week, now a little over a week away, is looking like a nice respite for the banged up former Pro Bowler.

“I’m waiting for the game where I don’t have to come out for four days, like that bye week,” Jenkins said. “That’s the only thing that I’m waiting for. Until then I’m ready for whatever.”
