Harris Suffers Sprained Ankle

Dwayne Harris suffered a sprained ankle on Tuesday but is expected to return on Wednesday

Dwayne Harris, a candidate for that vacant No. 3 receiving job for the Dallas Cowboys, suffered a sprained ankle late in Tuesday’s mini-camp session, the Dallas Morning News reports, but he’s expected to return when Day 2 of the mini-camp kicks off on Wednesday.

Harris will compete with Terrance Williams, the team’s third round pick out of Baylor this year, for that No. 3 spot, meaning it’ll be important for the third-year Eastern Carolina product to get in as many reps as possible going into training camp--when the position battle will begin in earnest.

"Every year you got to fight for your job," Harris said last month, per ESPN Dallas. "They're always drafting a new guy on us. We don’t even know who they're going to draft. So when you get a new receiver, you just got to go out there and do your job. I guess that’s what it is."

Also hurt on Tuesday was defensive end Anthony Spencer, who suffered a hyperextended knee. But like Harris, Spencer is expected to be back on Wednesday.
