If you're like me, the only reason you tuned in to Monday night's game between NFC East sister wives, the Giants and the Eagles, was to see the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, for which tickets went on sale on Monday even though it doesn't come out until December.
But you have to imagine there were several Dallas Cowboys who were in their recliners watching the game, and they were most likely enjoying what they were watching, which was two bad teams going at it trying to outdo one another on the "bad scale."
Early in the game, it looked the Giants were going to cruise to victory and establish themselves as the sole team in first place in the NFC East as they basically walked down the field with ease and capped their opening drive with an Eli Manning touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. Then, it all went to hell.
The Giants didn't score again. The Eagles did, but they weren't pretty doing it, either. Sam Bradford was bad. The one positive the Eagles had going was that DeMarco Murray put together his first 100-yard rushing game of the year, but other than that, it was a whole lot of bad from both sides.
So here sit the Cowboys at 2-3 — a half-game behind New York and Philadelphia — with a new quarterback taking over that might give them more of a fighter's chance, a possibility of Dez Bryant returning, and a defense with all kinds of reinforcements who weren't around the first time the Cowboys played the Giants, and a win on Sunday in the Meadowlands would put the Cowboys ahead of the Giants.
For as bad as the past few weeks have been for the Cowboys, things sure are looking up in the wild NFC East.
