Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett liked what he saw out of cornerback Orlando Scandrick in 2015.

That’s kind of a weird statement, as Scandrick didn’t play a down in 2015 after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial cruciate ligament in his right knee in training camp. But Scandrick was around the team throughout the season and, according to Garrett, served as a real leader even as he was sidelined.

“He’s really been committed to getting himself right. He was around our football team a lot in a really positive way, demonstrated some leadership even though he wasn’t really a part of the team on a day-to-day basis this year,” Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “He’s really matured over the course of his career.

“He’s a really good football player. He makes a lot of plays, both in the nickel position but also demonstrated to us the last couple of years that he could be an outstanding corner.”
