Garrett Calls Last Year's Loss to Saints “A Teaching Tool”

The Cowboys lost to the Saints 49-17 to the Saints last November in New Orleans

There are plenty of ways to describe the Dallas Cowboys 49-17 loss to the Saints last November in New Orleans, in which Drew Brees and co. set an NFL record with 40 first downs.

A beat-down.

A drubbing.

An embarrassment.

According to head coach Jason Garrett, though, the game was also a teaching moment for his players.

"I think it's probably more of a teaching tool," Garrett said this week, per ESPN Dallas. "You watch the tape and you try to evaluate just like you would any other previous experience you would have with a team. If you can get anything from it, from a scheme standpoint or a personnel standpoint, you certainly try to use that. It was not a good game for us. Their team is different. Our team is different. We’re focused on this game on Sunday."

At 2-1, and playing noticeably better defense than a year ago, the Cowboys will get their shot at redemption on their home turf on Sunday Night Football this week.
