Garoppolo Glad to Draw Comparisons to Romo

Jimmy Garoppolo put up over 5,000 yards in his career at Tony Romo's alma mater, Eastern Illinois

Coming out of Tony Romo’s alma mater, Eastern Illinois University, it’s only natural that Jimmy Garoppolo has drawn some comparisons to the Dallas Cowboys’ signal caller going into the 2014 NFL Draft.

Garoppolo says he is honored by the comparison.

I’m glad to carry the comparison with me,” Garoppolo said in an appearance on ESPN's Gruden's QB Camp, per the Dallas Morning News. “He’s a heck of a quarterback, has had great success in the NFL, a Pro Bowl quarterback. If I could get there, I’d be real happy.”

Projected to come off the board in the second round, Garoppolo is among the best quarterbacks in this year’s class after posting over 5,000 yards and 53 touchdowns in his career at EIU.

“Tony Romo actually reached out to me after we won the conference this year,” Garoppolo said. “I’ve heard Romo actually has a pretty good golf game, too, so I might have to meet him out on the course. He might have to teach me a couple things.”
