Frederick Impressed by Martin's Development

Dallas made guard Zack Martin the 16th overall pick in May's draft

Cowboys rookie guard Zack Martin is in pretty much the same place center Travis Frederick was in at this time last year, going into his first NFL training camp as a first rounder, expected to make an immediate impact.

Frederick made good on those expectations in 2013, anchoring a rebuilt offensive line and earning All-Rookie Team honors, and obviously, Dallas is hopeful that Martin can put up a similar rookie campaign.

Thus far, Frederick has been impressed by Martin’s development.

I think so a little bit but he’s been doing a really good job,” Frederick told the team’s official website. “He did a great job in OTAs and mini-camp going through and really asking the questions that he needed to and putting himself in a good position, so I think that through this offseason he did a great job of learning all the plays and that, so maybe he can focus on some of the smaller things as well.

“At guard, there’s not quite as much to know as at center as far as seeing these and understanding what the defense is doing you still have to know, so I think it makes the learning curve a little less steep.”
