Former Cowboys Great Retires as Broncos Scout

Cornell Green, a perennial Pro Bowler in his 13-year career as a defensive back for the Dallas Cowboys and an NFL scout for nearly four decades, is retiring from the Denver Broncos scouting department.

Green, 75, was honored by GM John Elway after the draft Saturday.

Green, who began his scouting career in Dallas even before his playing career was over, was presented with a jersey, the No. 28 representing the years he worked for the Broncos.

"He can do it all," Elway said. "Cornell was an unbelievable player for the Cowboys and an unbelievable scout for the Broncos and a big participant in what we've done for a long, long time."

Green played in Dallas from 1962-74 and was a three-time All-Pro.
