Former Cowboys DC Zimmer Interviews With Vikes

Mike Zimmer was with the Cowboys from 1994-2006 as defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator

Mike Zimmer has been an NFL defensive coordinator since he was promoted by the Dallas Cowboys from defensive backs coach--his position in Dallas from 1994-1999, and his first job in the league--back in 2000. He’s never been a head coach on any level, but that could soon change.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Zimmer will have a second interview with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, his second second interview of the offseason. He also got a second interview with the Titans, but they hired Ken Whisenhunt on Monday.

After serving as the Cowboys defensive coordinator from 2000-2006, Zimmer moved on to Atlanta in 2007, where he stayed for just a season. From 2008 until now, he’s been running the defense in Cincinnati.
