Fantasy Land: Week 12 Remembered

Look, it's obvious who the No. 1 superstar of fantasy football Week 12 was. Drew Brees made the New York Giants look like a high school defense as he eclipsed 300 yards passing and four touchdowns while adding another rushing touchdown. And he beat my team. I hate him.

So the hero of the week I'll focus on is Victor Cruz, who was the beneficiary of a great night by Eli Manning -- great second half, actually -- catching nine balls for 157 yards and two touchdowns. It was the fourth straight game with at least six catches for Cruz and his second straight 100-yard game. It seems that he's taken over as the No. 1 wide receiver for the Giants ahead of the injured Mario Manningham or Hakeem Nicks.

As for goats of the week, you have to look at two stud quarterbacks, one of which has been a disappointment all season, with two great matchups.

Philip Rivers threw for 188 yards and a touchdown in an overtime loss to Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos. The bright spot for Rivers was that he didn't throw an interception for just the second time all season. Then there's Ben Roethlisberger, who was going up against the painfully average Kansas City Chiefs. He threw for 193 yards, a touchdown and had one interception.

Both were horribly disappointing and both have pretty decent matchups next week to rebound.
