Fantasy Land: Studs and Duds, Week 9

A two-time champion in a hardcore keeper league, including some know-it-all media "experts", Adam Boedeker gives his fantasy expertise on a weekly basis.

Stud of the Week

Andy Dalton, CIN, QB — The former TCU quarterback is about as hot as they come lately. Last week he torched the New York Jets and threw five touchdown passes, only one of which was to his best target, A.J. Green. The other four went to Marvin Jones, whose emergence could help Green and Dalton both by giving the Bengals another solid option in the passing game. Dalton gets a good pass defense in Miami on Thursday night, but when you're as hot as Dalton, it might not matter.

Honorable mention: Terrelle Pryor, OAK (vs. PHI); Robert Griffin III (vs. SD), Philip Rivers, SD (at WAS); Marvin Jones, CIN (at MIA).

Dud of the Week

Torrey Smith, BAL, WR — Smith got off to a scorching start this year but has cooled off considerably since, including two awful games in his past two times out. On paper, a matchup against Cleveland looks good for anyone, but then you remember that the Browns employ a cornerback by the name of Joe Haden, who might be one of the best shutdown corners in the league and has held guys like Calvin Johnson and A.J. Green in check this year.

Honorable mention: Tom Brady, NE (vs. PIT); Trent Richardson, IND (at HOU); Dwayne Bowe, KC (at BUF); Steve Johnson, BUF (vs. KC).
