Fantasy Land: Studs and Duds, Week 5

A two-time champion in a hardcore keeper league, including some know-it-all media "experts," Adam Boedeker gives his fantasy expertise on a weekly basis.

Stud of the Week

Philip Rivers, QB, SD — For the second straight week, Rivers finds himself in this spot. Maybe it's a bit of a personal bias. Full disclosure, yours truly owns Rivers and is off to a 3-1 start thanks in large part to the fiery veteran. Now, he gets a suspect New York Jets secondary at home and should feast on them just like he did against the Jaguars' defense a week ago. The Jets don't have an interception this year and have allowed multiple touchdown passes to every quarterback they've faced, and Rivers might be the best yet. Look out.

Honorable mention: Russell Wilson, SEA (at WAS); Frank Gore, SF (vs. KC); Ben Tate, CLE (at TEN); Steve Smith, CAR (at IND).

Dud of the Week

Tom Brady, QB, NE — Look, Brady's struggles aren't all his fault. He has no talent around him. In reality, would you ever consider Julian Edelman a No. 1 wide receiver? Didn't think so. Rob Gronkowski doesn't appear to be fully healthy yet, and even if he was defenses can sell out to stop him. Brady has barely been worth owning this year, and the Bengals' defense can hammer home that point this week.

Honorable mention: Nick Foles, PHI (vs. STL); Alfred Morris, WAS (vs. SEA); Kirk Cousins, WAS (vs. SEA); Larry Fitzgerald, ARI (at DEN).
