Fantasy Land: Stud and Dud For Week 16

Fantasy leagues that play in Week 17 are sketchy to me. Any league worth its salt will have its championship game this weekend while most teams are assured of still playing their starters. That rule really only applies to the Colts, who always rest starters but they haven't come close to clinching a playoff spot yet so we don't have to worry about them.

So good luck to everyone who's fortunate enough to be playing this week. Drumroll, please...

Stud of the Week

Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders: The college backfield mate of Peyton Hillis and Felix Jones (that's amazing to think about) has finally lived up to his hype. Coming out of Arkansas, McFadden fell flat on his face for a couple of seasons in the NFL, but this year has been a breakout one for the dynamic back. McFadden rushed for 120 yards against a poor Broncos defense last week, and speaking of those pesky Colts, the Raiders face an even weaker defense this week. The Colts would give up 100 yards to Daryl Johnston. McFadden broke the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career last week, and this week will bring more success against the Colts. Put him in your lineup, and count your winnings. Kidding, everyone knows playing for money is wrong and immoral.

Dud of the Week

Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans: The stud receiver has been suffering from an ankle injury off and on all season, and he missed practice on Thursday, not to mention the fact that head coach Gary Kubiak said "if" he practices on Friday it will be limited. You have to think Johnson will play on Sunday against the Broncos, but you have to wonder how effective he'll actually be. It's unfortunate, because a healthy Andre Johnson would absolutely shred the Broncos defense. Sit him and cross your fingers that he doesn't go off.
