Escobar “a Little Surprised” By Pick

Cowboys' second rounder Gavin Escobar admits he was a bit surprised he went so early

Cowboys first round selection Travis Frederick said shortly after being selected that he was surprised he was taken in the first round, and he wasn’t the only one. Many draft experts expressed some surprise that Dallas went after the Wisconsin center with the 31st overall pick.

According to a recent interview, the team’s second round pick, Gavin Escobar, was a bit surprised he went as high as he did as well.

I was a little surprised,” Escobar told 103.3-FM ESPN Radio on Monday, via the Dallas Morning News, “I wasn’t really sure exactly where I was going to land and how early I was going to go, so I was a little surprised, but definitely excited.”

That’s not to say the San Diego State product is wanting for any confidence, however.

“I think the best part about my game is definitely my pass catching ability,” Escobar said. “I’ll catch everything, so the way that you can use me, you can move me around a lot. I can have my hand down in the dirt, you can move me out in the slot, I can be in the backfield. I’ve done it all in college and I’m ready to do it now.”
