Eagles Take A Look At Mat McBriar

McBriar was one of a few punters to work out for Philly on Monday

After spending most of the offseason working out in San Diego, Mat McBriar was in Philadelphia on Monday, one of a handful of punters in town to be looked at by the Eagles, ESPN Dallas reports.

A two-time Pro Bowler and a special teams captain, McBriar finished the 2011 season on injured reserve as the result of a nerve issue that affected his plant leg. McBriar had surgery to remove a cyst from just below his left knee--the culprit that caused the case of drop foot, the nerve issue etc.--back in February, and is reportedly recovering well.

Chris Jones is the man who replaced McBriar when he went to the IR last season, and did well enough at least to have a shot at winning the job this year. Entering his second year in the league, Jones is currently one of two punters on the Cowboys’ roster, along with Delbert Alvarado, a South Florida product who went to camp with Dallas as an undrafted free agent back in 2010.
