ESPN's McShay Has Dallas Taking Miss. St. DT Fletcher Cox In Latest Mock

Todd McShay's latest mock draft has Dallas targeting a pass rusher in the first round

Many believe the Dallas Cowboys’ recent free agent haul will free them up to target an area other than the secondary or interior offensive line--the greatest areas of need going into the offseason--and this may be reflected in the latest mock draft of ESPN’s draft expert, Todd McShay.

This go round, McShay has the Cowboys taking Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox with the 14th overall pick, per ESPN Dallas.

Jerry Jones has said that drafting a pass rusher was a possibility--that the team is “always looking for a pass rusher”--and that a legitimate pass rushing threat opposite DeMarcus Ware could have a major impact on the defense.

Cox was the only member of his team to be named All-SEC, after recording 56 tackles and five sacks in 2011, and at 6-foot-4 and 298 pounds, he is expected to only get bigger in the NFL.

Interestingly, McShay has the trio of Alabama defenders that Dallas is reportedly eyeing--safety Mark Barron, outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick--all going after the Cowboys’ pick at 14.
