Doug Free to Undergo Ankle Surgery Next Week

Free missed the Cowboys' final four games with an ankle injury

Right tackle Doug Free is set to become the second Dallas Cowboy to undergo surgery this offseason next week when he undergoes a procedure on his left ankle. Defensive end Jeremy Mincey became the first on Thursday, when he had bone chips removed from his elbow.

Including the two playoff games, Free missed the final four games of the Cowboys’ season after suffering the injury in the Week 15 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He missed three games earlier in the year with a fracture in his foot.

In both cases, Free was replaced by Jermey Parnell.

A Northern Illinois product, Free was drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2007 Draft. He has started 82 games for the Cowboys.
