Dez Running Routes…Just Very Slowly

Rookie receiver Dez Bryant is among the score of injured Cowboys in Oxnard, but offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is out to ensure that, through his recovery, Bryant doesn’t fall too far behind. According to an account in today’s Dallas Morning News, Bryant spent some time after practice Wednesday jogging dictated routes under Garrett’s watchful eye.

"He wanted to make sure I was on top of my game and that I've been in my playbook," Bryant said. "He just wants to know I had everything down."

Asked if, indeed, he had everything down, Bryant said "Yes sir, I did."

Bryant doesn’t want for any motivation to return to the field. He’s been down with a high ankle sprain since shortly after the opening of camp in San Antonio, and hasn’t made any secret of the frustration he feels as a rookie unable to participate in practice. Still, Bryant has come to terms with the Cowboys’ hesitance in bringing him back early, for fear of a setback.

"They've been doing this forever," Bryant said of the team’s training staff. "They know what they're talking about. I'm just going to follow them."
