Rookie defensive end Demarcus Lawrence has been told by doctors that his recovery from foot surgery is right on track, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.
Lawrence, who broke his foot during a pass rush drill in training camp, was placed on the short-term injured list earlier this month and won’t be eligible to return to practice for another month. He’ll be eligible to make his debut on November 2, as the Cowboys take on the Arizona Cardinals.
In the meantime, Lawrence has been working in the weight room and poring over the playbook.
"It's hard because I want to be out there with the team, but other than that it's just a process," Lawrence said. "Go week by week just in the playbook and in the film room just trying to get my mindset right so when I do return everything is going to be what I expect it to be."
