Demarcus Lawrence: “I Try to be as Violent as I Can”

The Cowboys selected Lawrence out of Boise State in the second round of the draft

In the short time he’s been at Valley Ranch, Dallas Cowboys second round pick Demarcus Lawrence has made clear that he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty.

“Football is a violent game, so I go in each and every day and try to be as violent as I can,” the rookie defensive end said this week, per the Dallas Morning News, “because when I look at the bigger picture, the next man is always going to try to be better than you. I go in every day ready to work and try to get better.”

Like just about every defensive lineman who has joined the Cowboys over the past two seasons, Lawrence is excited to be working with Rod Marinelli, widely considered one of the best, if not the best defensive coaches in the NFL.

“He’s the guru,” Lawrence said. “If I can stay with him for a long time, I’m going to be one of the smartest football players, ever.”
